LiveProcess in Use

LiveProcess in Florida

LiveProcess was used to coordinate patient transfers from smoke-filled facilities earlier this year as huge wildfires burned in northern Florida and southern Georgia. The fires, which created dense smoke that closed parts of two major interstates, prompted mandatory evacuations in a number of affected areas.

The event led to a Level 1 Activation for Wildfires in the Deep Creek area of Columbia County, with the possibility of evacuation of Shands Lake Shore due to extreme smoke conditions. Lake shore was fortified by Clean Air Machines from other facilities to filter the smoke. Additionally, several patients from smoke-filled nursing homes were evacuated to Shands AGH.

Steve Truluck of Shands Healthcare initiated an Event Log that was used successfully throughout the incident, allowing the multiple Shands facilities to remain in close communication and to coordinate all response activity.

LiveProcess in Georgia -- Preparing for the Flu

The communication systems in Georgia hospitals were recently tested during six regional drills. LiveProcess was one of the communication systems tested, and proved dependable in each one.

For example, Region L ran a successful pediatric flu epidemic exercise involving six hospitals, the district public health office, and state public health. Explains Al Strickland, LiveProcess Director, Healthcare Deployment,

"Besides using LiveProcess for communications between hospitals and public health, GHA used the LiveProcess Event Log to provide the injects for the drill. Both uses of the application were successful."

LiveProcess in Ohio -- Ready for a Tornado

Emergency Preparedness is a high priority at Mercy Hospital of Defiance in Ohio. One particular risk faced in this part of the country is tornadoes. In fact, when compared with other states, Ohio ranks highly for number of tornado-related deaths, injuries, and cost of damages.

Thus, it wasn't surprising when hospital employee Renee Davis contacted LiveProcess seeking a tornado plan. Customer support directed her to the “Plan” tab and then the “Reference” sub tab, where she typed the keyword “tornado." Multiple plans came up from her search. "This is great," said Davis, "really great. This system is terrific."
