LiveProcess Receives U.S. Patent for Web-Based Emergency Management

VERONA, NJ (October 12, 2009) – LiveProcess Corporation, the market leader in web-based emergency preparedness and incident management solutions for hospitals and healthcare organizations, announced today that the U.S. Patent Office (PTO) has issued U.S. Patent No. 7,596,608 to LiveProcess.

The new patent, entitled "Networked Emergency Management System," covers a computer-implemented process that streamlines the creation of best practice standardized emergency plans for different healthcare facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes and clinics. The plans can then be shared in full or in part, within or between facilities, and in the coordination of efforts in the four areas of emergency management: Mitigation, Planning, Response, and Recovery. LiveProcess believes this patent represents the first of its kind in healthcare emergency preparedness.

"Emergency management and preparedness in our nation's healthcare system is becoming increasingly complicated, yet has never been more important for our society. We believe issuance of this patent validates the business model we have created to help our customers solve their complex emergency management problems," stated Nathaniel Weiss, LiveProcess' founder and chief executive officer. "At the end of the day, the effective coordination of emergency management between healthcare organizations means lives saved. There is nothing more rewarding than patenting a process and technology to help make that happen," Weiss concluded.

The Technology

The LiveProcess secure Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform is a comprehensive, community-integrated and easy-to-use solution that helps hospitals and healthcare organizations automate daily operations, exercises, compliance and incident management. The LiveProcess toolset includes:

  • an interactive Hospital Incident Command System (HICS)
  • a fully automated Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA)
  • a National Incident Management System (NIMS) Compliance Tool
  • a Compliance Suite for addressing the most recent changes in Joint Commission emergency management requirements
  • an exercise engine for building and running exercises and drills
  • a real-time event log for both facility communications and community communications to more effectively manage an event

LiveProcess platform is already in use in more than 500 facilities nationwide and is the only disaster preparedness and incident command solution endorsed by the American Hospital Association. LiveProcess was recently named to the 2009 Inc. 5000 list of America's Fastest Growing Private Companies with a three-year growth rate of 620 percent.
