LiveProcess Launches "Managing H1N1" Web Seminar Series

Educational forums provide information and resources for managing emergency response to pandemic

VERONA, NJ (December 17, 2009) – LiveProcess, the market leader in web-based emergency preparedness and incident management solutions for hospitals and healthcare organizations is offering a three-part series of on-demand web seminars designed to provide timely information and tools for managing operational and compliance issues surrounding the 2009 - H1N1 (or “swine flu”) pandemic. All three web seminars are available for viewing at www.liveprocess.com/h1n1.

The entire series is designed primarily for hospital and public health professionals but can be a valuable resource to anyone interested in the H1N1 virus.

  1. The first webinar offers a general introduction to influenza, including a brief history of pandemic flu, explores how influenza viruses attack, how they are classified and how efforts such as vaccine programs are created to mitigate them.
  2. The second webinar explores the new OSHA enforcement procedures that became effective on November 20, 2009 for preparedness and response activities associated with the H1N1 virus and how they will impact healthcare organizations.
  3. The third webinar provides useful tips for developing policies and plans, including differentiating between Emergency Operations Plans (EOP) and Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP), as well as addressing staffing issues in managing the H1N1 event.

The presentations are offered by Onalee Grady-Erickson of Emergency Response and Global Security Solutions (ERGSS) and Mitch Saruwatari, vice president of Quality and Compliance at LiveProcess.

Ms. Grady-Erickson is a certified emergency manager and principal at ERGSS, which provides a wide range of training programs for both the corporate and private industry, in addition to emergency response organizations. Grady-Erickson is an adjunct faculty member with the Center for Domestic Preparedness, formerly the infectious disease outbreak program coordinator for the State of Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and a national leader in pandemic influenza planning. Mr. Saruwatari is a recognized national healthcare emergency management expert who co-chaired the development of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliant Hospital Incident Command System (HICS).

The web seminars are the latest in a series of nationwide programs offered by LiveProcess to help the healthcare emergency preparedness community manage the H1N1 crisis. LiveProcess recently launched a national H1N1 event log to help regional healthcare organizations more effectively deal with the expected patient surge, consolidate the massive flow of disease-related communications and run regional events with their constituent hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
