LiveProcess Featured at Disaster Planning for Hospitals Conference

VERONA, NJ (July 29, 2009) – LiveProcess, the market leader in emergency preparedness and incident management solutions for healthcare, today announced it will be one of the featured presenters and exhibitors at the 4th Annual Disaster Planning for Hospitals Conference, August 3-4 at the Hilton Suites Magnificent Mile, Chicago. The conference is presented by the New York-based World Research Group.

This year's conference will feature in-depth case studies on every step of the emergency management process including emergency operations plans, repatriation of patients after an evacuation, responding to surge events, understanding the legalities of crisis care and developing a mass casualty triage system.

A popular topic at this year's conference deals with the emerging H1N1 ("swine flu") virus, which led to a pandemic that swept parts of the world in May. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on July 23 warned that swine flu could strike up to 40 percent of Americans over the next two years.

"Many people have reason to be concerned given limited resources and a novel virus that may become more virulent," said Mitch Saruwatari, vice president of Quality and Compliance for LiveProcess, which helps hospitals manage large-scale disasters and emergencies with an Internet-based planning and communications platform.

Saruwatari will present "From Swine Flu to H1N1: Managing Changes in Resources, Information and Clinical Management within a Healthcare Region" at this year's conference. The presentation will provide a case study that describes how one region responded to the H1N1 outbreak including specific examples of lessons learned for improving response capabilities prior to the next influenza season. The presentation will also show how the region was able to effectively communicate and coordinate activities and information among local public health, emergency medical services and hospitals using new emergency management technology.

"Hospitals and other healthcare providers are on the front line of this crisis, but they can improve resourcing decisions and information management more effectively," added Saruwatari, a recognized national emergency management expert who co-managed the fourth version of the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS).

The Disaster Planning for Hospitals Conference is intended for hospital administrators, physician and nursing executives, quality, safety and compliance officers, and executives charged with disaster planning, emergency preparedness, emergency department medicine and disaster medicine. The conference also provides an opportunity for attendees to meet face-to-face with exhibitors showcasing the latest equipment, technologies and services in the emergency preparedness industry.

About LiveProcess

LiveProcess was established in the wake of the September 11th attacks and the worldwide SARS outbreak in response to widespread recognition that healthcare needed a better way to plan and respond to disasters. In 2004, LiveProcess launched its centralized, web-based disaster preparation and incident management platform, the first of its kind for healthcare, to help healthcare organizations prepare for and respond to both large- and small-scale emergencies and disasters. Today, it is the leader in emergency management for hospitals.

The LiveProcess platform is a comprehensive, community-integrated and easy-to-use solution that helps hospitals and healthcare organizations automate daily operations, exercises, compliance and incident management and is in use in hundreds of hospitals across the country. In addition, the American Hospital Association (AHA) has exclusively endorsed LiveProcess as the choice for disaster readiness and incident command solutions for its more than 5,000 member hospitals.

The LiveProcess platform provides hospitals, other healthcare providers and public health agencies with the ability to evaluate and manage their own preparedness and state of readiness, as well as coordinate response with other entities for small incidents through large-scale healthcare emergencies.

Its broad and growing range of fully-integrated tools include Hazard Vulnerability Analyses (HVA), an integrated Incident Command System (ICS), NIMS Compliance activities, Drills for Readiness and Compliance, a real-time Event Log, and Competency-Based Training capabilities.
